Sound reduction, providing peace and tranquility, improving the quality of life inside your home. 3. Energy efficiency and savings on power bills. 4. Increase in resale value. 5. Less condensation, and a healthier home. 6. Safety and security. Safety glass and handles that provide an extra level of security. 7. Fading and privacy. Will retrofit change the look of my windows?Timber: No, not if you want to keep the character of your home. There are however options to make adjustments or changes such as removals of transoms and mullions to create wider views. Aluminium: Yes, you are able to modernise the layout of your current joinery. Also all of the opening windows are replaced, with a more modern profile, new hinges and handles too.
-
How does retrofit double glazing compare to new double glazing?Aluminium Frames: Retrofit double glazing provides many of the same benefits as new double glazing, as the double glazed units are generally the same. The difference is that you will keep the same aluminium joinery, which means you won't get to choose a new colour. Also new joinery means you get a chance to choose a more thermally efficient joinery type, like thermally broken aluminium, UPVC or the most thermal option, Timber. Because you don't need new frames it is a lot more cost efficient to get retrofit double glazing. Timber Frames: With timber frames you are generally going to get the best thermal performance for less cost by choosing retrofit double glazing with High Performance Glass such as Low-E glass double glazing.
-
What is the cost of retrofit double glazing?Retrofit double glazing allows you to keep your existing joinery, as only the glass is replaced, this makes it more affordable than full replacement windows. The cost to retrofit an average three bedroom home costs around $15,000.00 (this is only a rough estimate).

Do we need to get the whole house done? No. We will seperate the quote into rooms and you can choose to attack it in stages if you'd like.

What is Low-E glass?Low emissivity glass (emissivity is the rate at which heat leaves a building), commonly known as ‘Low-E’ has a lower rate of heat-loss than non Low-E glass. A clear micro metallic coating is applied to an inside surface of a double glazed unit. It works by reflecting heat back into your home, and equally reflecting excessive solar heat out of your home.

Laminated glass is two panes of glass with a film layer in between them and can also be used as safety glass.
-
What is Argon Gas?Argon gas is an inert, non-toxic gas that is more dense than oxygen. It is placed between glass panes in an insulated glass unit in order to slow the rate of heat loss.
-
What is a Double Glazed Unit? Two panes of glass, separated by a thermally improved spacer and filled with argon gas. This provides another layer of insulation for your home, decreasing heat loss through your windows.
